The estimates calculator helps United Nations staff members understand
changes to the salary and benefits under the new compensation package for internationally-recruited staff
in the Professional and higher and the Field Service categories that was approved in December 2015 by the
General Assembly resolution (A/RES/70/244).
The salaries and related allowances of staff members are established in accordance with the
and Regulations of the United Nations (ST/SGB/2016/1).
The estimates calculator cannot determine if a staff member is eligible for any allowance or benefit.
The implementation of changes to the compensation package for internationally-recruited staff in
the Professional and higher and the Field Service categories takes place in three phases: 1 July 2016,
1 January 2017 and 1 January 2018. Click here
to view the details of each phase.

* The Secretariat ERP system (Umoja) will only be able to implement the new set of dependency allowances (i.e. the dependent spouse, the single parent and the transitional allowances) as of 1 September 2017. In order to avoid any negative impact on staff members who are eligible to receive any of these allowances, an interim Payroll Adjustment equivalent to the amount of these allowances (i.e. 6% of the net base salary plus post adjustment) will be paid as part of the monthly payroll from 1 January to 31 August 2017 to eligible staff members. In September 2017, upon implementation in the ERP system of these three allowances, there will be an automatic recalculation of staff members’ monthly payroll and minor adjustments related to the medical , dental and life insurance contribution amounts will be made as necessary. Staff members will be informed of any additional payment or recovery as applicable.
